What causes migraines?

Migraine headaches are complex neurological disorders that begin when internal or external factors trigger hyperactivity in the trigeminal nerves.

There are many possible migraine triggers. Some of the most common are:

  • Stress

  • Fatigue

  • Caffeine

  • Bright lights

  • Strong odors

  • Skipping a meal

  • Extreme temperatures

  • Certain foods and additives

02

Brain Fog

If you have trouble focusing or feel more forgetful than usual, it may be due to brain fog. At Synergy Medical Solutions, Inc, the expert team has years of experience diagnosing and treating brain fog with safe and effective means. To schedule an appointment, please call our office number 205-389-9876.

What is brain fog?

Brain fog isn’t a medical condition, but it can be a symptom of a potentially serious issue. It’s a type of cognitive dysfunction characterized by memory problems, poor concentration, or the inability to focus.

Brain fog affects everyone differently. For some, it’s severe and makes it difficult to work or go to school. For others, symptoms are mild and resolve over time.

03

Syncope

As you age, your risk of developing recurrent fainting issues, known as syncope, increases. To prevent injuries and identify potential factors that cause syncope, the team at Synergy Medical Solutions, Inc offers the latest diagnostic technologies on-site at their offices. The expert medical team carefully listens to your symptoms to pinpoint potential triggers for fainting and other syncope-related symptoms. To schedule an evaluation for syncope, please call our office number 205-389-9876.

What is syncope?

Syncope is a temporary loss of consciousness, more commonly known as fainting. The condition occurs when you don’t have proper blood flow to your brain, often due to low blood pressure or slow heart rate.

In some cases, syncope is a benign condition. However, if it occurs frequently, it may be an indication of an underlying medical issue. Neurologic syncope can trigger various conditions, including:

  • Seizure

  • Stroke

  • Transient ischemic attack (TIA)

  • Migraines

Another common cause of neurologic syncope is normal pressure hydrocephalus. This condition causes excess cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) to accumulate in your brain, resulting in thinking problems, loss of bladder control, and difficulty walking.

04

Traumatic Brain Injury

A violent blow to the head can cause traumatic brain injury, which may result in headaches, memory loss, or disruption in speech, learning, or motor coordination. If you’ve had a recent accident or injury, visit the neurologists at Synergy Medical Solutions, Inc. With a full range of diagnostic and treatment services, the providers can help you make a full recovery. To schedule an appointment, please call our office number 205-389-9876.

What causes a traumatic brain injury?

A traumatic brain injury (TBI) usually happens when you sustain a blow to the head. The severity of your symptoms depends on what part of the brain is affected, as well as the type of injury. Some of the most common causes of traumatic brain injuries are:

  • Falls

  • Car accidents

  • Domestic violence

  • Sports

  • Work hazards

When your brain collides with the inside of your skull, this can cause tearing in the nerve fibers, bruising, bleeding, and skull fractures.

Learn more about available treatment for neck pain by calling our office number 205-389-9876.

What causes neck pain?

Neck pain can be the result of an injury or degenerative condition affecting the structures of your cervical spine or neck. While many people experience occasional neck pain from poor posture or overuse, those with chronic pain may not be able to stay physically active.

Some common causes of chronic neck pain include:

  • Arthritis

  • Fractures

  • Infections

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Herniated discs

  • Spinal stenosis

  • Pinched nerve

You may also experience chronic neck pain due to spondylosis, a disorder that develops due to the wear-and-tear of the cartilage that covers the bones in your neck.

06

Stroke

If the blood supply to your brain is suddenly interrupted, you may experience a stroke. If you’re recovering from a stroke and want the best possible care, visit Synergy Medical Solutions, Inc. With the most innovative and accurate neurological testing and treatment methods, the team helps individuals recover from a stroke and lead normal, healthy lives. To schedule an appointment, please call our office number 205-389-9876.

What causes a stroke?

There are several types of strokes, and they have different causes:

Ischemic stroke

This type accounts for about 80% of strokes, and it occurs when the arteries to your brain become narrow or blocked from a clot or plaque buildup.

Hemorrhagic stroke

A hemorrhagic stroke happens when a blood vessel in the brain ruptures or starts to leak. That can happen due to high blood pressure or overuse of blood thinner medication.

Transient ischemic attack (TIA)

This is often called a “mini” stroke, as it develops as a result of decreased blood supply to the brain but does not cause tissue damage or lasting symptoms.

You may be more likely to have a stroke if you are obese, if you have high blood pressure, if you’re a heavy drinker, or if you have diabetes or high cholesterol.
